Gioca Con Me
Italian laboratories for children of age 4 to 10 at CASIT. Children will “discover” the beauty of the Italian language with a non-traditional teaching approach. Theme-based laboratories, such as music, theater, art, dance, and poetry blended in “active learning”, will foster a yearning for deeper “discovery” of the Italian language.
This year Italian Heritage Contest will focus on Christopher Columbus; his origins, his desire for discovery, the financial support received from Spain, and the trip to the New World. Each submission will provide opportunities to use the Italian language. The projects will present a logical progression of information, use of language as appropriate by grade level, creativity progressing with level of study, visual appeal, and in some cases, the use of technology.
With attendance topping last year’s event, guests were a buzz throughout the evening. Colleagues and friends reunited while CASIT also welcomed many new friends. Light-hearted Black Jack to Roulette “gaming” served as the backdrop and all that is “Italian” was carefully woven into every detail of the evening. The food, the ambiance, the music, and the spoken language...all CASIT, all Italian…all to benefit children.

Casino Night 2014
On October 29th, 2014 C.A.S.IT., Inc. (Centro Attivita’ Scolastiche Italiane ) hosted its first “Casino Night” Fundraiser at Spinelli’s Function Facility in Lynnfield, MA so that students in public and private schools throughout New England can be afforded Italian language and culture in their classrooms>
Guests mingled with colleagues and friends with the goal of helping students and celebrating education. Light-hearted “gaming” ranging from Black Jack to Roulette served as the backdrop for the evening. And in the spirit of all that is Italian, guests dined on cultural delicacies.
Among those in attendance for the Casino Night was the newly appointed Consul General of Italy, Dr. Nicola DeSantis accompanied by Dr. Elisa Meldolesi, State Senator Sal DiDomenico of Everett, State Representative Paul Donato of Medford, and many other state wide educational leaders.
One of the evening’s highlights was youth driven…Arlington High School and Musica Vesuviana Festival alumni, directed by Sabatino D’Agostino, performed for all those in attendance and wowed them. Special musical guests Spajazzy, delighted all with their jazz.
The evening was indeed an educational celebration with every detail tended to by CASIT’s Adelaide Guarracino, Rosabla Schino, Angela Cristiani and CASIT’s President, Maria Gioconda Motta. Special thanks to the generosity of Capone Iron Corporation, Roome & Guarracino LLC, Wilmington Sons of Italy, Arco Welding Supply, Cappuccio Construction Co., Inc., Carriglio Construction Corporation, Casa Design, the Giangregorio Family, P&H Business Support Solutions LLC, Patriot Iron Corporation, the Privitera Family Charitable Foundation, Suzanne Iannella, Consul DeSantis, Costantino Richards Rizzo LLP, DePasquale Ventures, Eagle Bank, Pasciuto Properties, Ristorante Limoncello, Rucci Bardaro Falzone PC, St. Mary's School, Our Lady's Academy, Beauport Financial Services LLC, and so many others.
The mission of CASIT is to introduce, preserve, rejuvenate or broaden the study of the Italian language…with the ultimate purpose to institute Italian as a subject in the school curriculum. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Office of the Consulate General of Italy in Boston, provides partial funding in order for CASIT to achieve its mission in schools. Monies raised during fundraising events such as this Casino Night will be allocated to promote Italian language and culture in elementary, middle, and high schools as so many schools have been forced to eliminate foreign language courses due to budget restraints.
CASIT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and also offers Italian language and culture courses for adults at its Wakefield office, an Innovative Italian Summer Camp Program for children ages 4 -10, a resource library for Italian language teachers, annual Italian Heritage Month Contest for students, and so much more! 2013 Summer Italian Language Program Grazie for your support! All of us at C.A.S.IT., Inc. wish to express our sincerest appreciation and thanks for your generosity and support of our Italian Summer Program. Your donations of time, materials, venue and financial resources were fundamental to the success of the program and we are grateful for your personal commitment, enthusiasm and devotion to C.A.S.IT.’s mission.
Thanks to your contribution, we were able to launch a total immersion Italian summer program for children in the heart of Boston’s North End. The inaugural year of this groundbreaking program coincided beautifully with the Year of Italian Culture and Language in the USA! The program was offered for 2 consecutive weeks from July 8 through July 19 at the Eliot School. Participating families and students arrived from all over the Commonwealth from as diverse as Marblehead, Waltham and Lexington as well as Boston proper. It was truly “un gran successo”.
